MARK Allen’s good week continued as he booked a place in the quarter-finals of the BetVictor English Open in Brentwood with a 4-3 win over John Higgins. The last time the pair met they produced a Crucible epic at the World Championship in May,

John Higgins becomes the second player to hit 1,000 centuries on his way to a narrow 4-3 last-16 defeat to Mark Allen in the English Open.

Mark Allen made sure that John Higgins celebrations were cut short this evening as the Antrim man booked his place in the quarter finals of the English Open.

MARK Allen will face John Higgins in the last 16 of the BetVictor English Open in Brentwood on Thursday after a 4-2 win over China’s Lyu Haotian. The world number three from Antrim produced some heavy scoring against the world number 32 and bounced back well after losing frame three from 49 points ahead with three reds and colours remaining.
