Elon Musk announced in July that he would be moving all of his remaining companies to Texas after a public feud with California Governor Gavin Newsom. This week, he announced where exactly his social media company X will land — and it might not be where many expected.

Elon Musk’s empire in Bastrop is growing again as his social media company, X, is making its headquarters in the Central Texas town about 30 miles outside Austin.

New court filings revealed that X's headquarters are now in Bastrop, Texas, Forbes reports. Musk originally stated that the company would move from San Francisco to Austin. But now, Musk appears to have instead chosen to make X's home base only about 30 miles east of the tech-dominated city where Tesla's headquarters are located.

The world's richest man is trading high-rise offices in San Francisco for a more modest Texas building with views of an empty field.

Elon Musk has reportedly relocated X's headquarters to the Austin suburb Bastrop after announcing the California exit in July.
