The San Diego Padres and New York Mets have reportedly discussed a trade involving starting pitcher Dylan Cease. According to Jon Heyman of the New York

The New York Mets aren't done adding to the rotation. Pat Ragazzo from Sports Illustrated reports they have their eyes on a pitcher from the San Diego Padres.

Michael King. Word around the league is that the San Diego Padres might be willing to part ways with King, and if that’s the case, the Mets should be all over

Trading for Michael King would make the Mets' rotation incredibly formidable, removing perhaps the biggest question mark surrounding them.

The Mets showed they don’t like long-term deals for pitchers when they didn’t pursue Max Fried or Corbin Burnes, but they’ve been trying for Padres rental ace Dylan Cease (and presumably would also consider rotation mate Michael King).
