Waymo has just opened up its robotaxi service in Los Angeles to everyone. This marks the third major city in the US where you can hail a ride in one of these futuristic chariots, following in the footsteps of Phoenix and San Francisco.

Waymo closed a $5.6 billion funding round in October to expand its robotaxi service across the U.S. The autonomous vehicle venture is owned by Google parent Alphabet, which led the series C investment in Waymo, alongside earlier backers including Andreessen Horowitz, Fidelity, Perry Creek, Silver Lake, Tiger Global and T. Rowe Price.

Los Angeles will be the largest city where the robotaxi service will be made available. Los Angeles has 3.8 million people and the waitlist of Waymo already lodged 300,000 Angelenos, according to a blog post on Waymo on Tuesday.

The expansion comes eight months after Waymo began offering rides in Los Angeles to a limited group of passengers chosen from a waiting list that had ballooned to more than 300,000 people.
