As the San Diego Padres worked to finalize negotiations with Japanese pitching sensation Roki Sasaki, a legal dispute involving the late Padres owner Peter Seidler’s family added turmoil to the team’s offseason.

The Padres and catcher Elias Díaz are in agreement on a one-year deal, a source told MLB.com’s AJ Cassavell on Tuesday. The club has not confirmed the deal, which is pending a physical. Díaz ended last season with San Diego after being released by the Rockies in August.
