Ford Motor Company has initiated a recall for 272,817 vehicles in the United States due to battery-related concerns. The recall affects specific 2021 to 2023 Bronco Sport and 2022 to 2023 Maverick models.

The latest Ford recall covers certain Bronco and Maverick models that may be affected by sudden battery failure.

Ford is recalling more than 270,000 cars across the U.S. after customers reported battery failures that have affected functions including the steering and hazard lights. Models affected by the recall include 2021-2023 Bronco Sport SUVs and 2022-2023 Maverick trucks, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Batteries could “suddenly fail” in some recalled Ford cars, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Ford Motor Company recalled some 272,817 cars including the 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Maverick.

Ford recalled hundreds of thousands of vehicles because of concerns over battery failure issues, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

Ford is recalling over 272,000 Bronco Sport SUVs from the 2021 through 2023 model years and Maverick pickup trucks from the 2022 through 2023 model years. These vehicles have defective batteries that could suddenly fail while the SUV or pickup is in use.

To avoid an apparent risk of sudden failure, Ford is replacing the 12-volt batteries in the impacted vehicles.
