It is claimed that "Ettifaq preferred not to sack Gerrard despite the unconvincing results and levels during the recent period". The boss will be "given the opportunity to correct the situation during the coming period" with the international break viewed as a chance to "recalculate."

According to GiveMeSport, assistant manager Dean Holden and sporting director Mark Allen have both left the club by mutual consent. Holden, 45, joined Gerrard in February this year after being sacked by Charlton, having previously had stints in charge of Oldham and Bristol City.
