The National Hurricane Center said Wednesday it is tracking a system in the Caribbean that could soon strengthen into Hurricane Sara.

A tropical wave producing a cluster of showers and thunderstorms across the Caribbean has an 80% chance of becoming a tropical depression.

Some of the models suggest that Rafael may even do a small loop out in the Gulf. Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure near Puerto Rico is bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms to the area but has a low chance of development over the next week.

Rain, tropical-storm-force winds and even the potential for some tornadoes are possible for some portions of Florida with Hurricane Rafael.

New storm models show the storm—which has a 90 percent chance of forming in the next seven days—could strike Florida's coast.

The NHC said Tuesday it is tracking a tropical wave in the Caribbean Sea that could become a tropical depression by the end of the week.
