The Madison Keys who will play two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka for the title at the Australian Open on Saturday night is not the same Madison Keys who was the runner-up at the U.S.

Madison Keys saved a match point and upset No. 2 Iga Swiatek 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (10-8) in a high-intensity Australian Open semifinal to reach a Grand Slam title match for the second time in her career.

Aryna Sabalenka is one win away from a third consecutive Australian Open title after beating close friend Paula Badosa in the semi-finals.

Madison Keys -- using a mix of solid serves, power and defense -- upset two-time defending champion and top seed Aryna Sabalenka 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 to win the Australian Open on Saturday, giving the 29-year-old American her first Grand Slam title in 46 tries.

Sabalenka beat good friend Paula Badosa of Spain earlier Thursday, 6-4, 6-2. Sabalenka, a 26-year-old from Belarus, can become the first woman since 1999 to win three consecutive Australian Open singles crowns. "If she plays like this," the 11th-seeded Badosa said, "I mean, we can already give her the trophy."

Aryna Sabalenka will next play either World No.2 Iga Swiatek of Poland or World No.14 Madison Keys of the United States. Aryna Sabalenka won the Australian Open in 2023 and 2024.

Madison Keys has charged into the Australian Open final and will meet two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in Saturday’s championship (3 a.m. ET, ESPN).
