Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist” sparked controversy over the weekend after it became more widely known that AI was used during postproduction for enhancing stars Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones’ Hungarian language dialogue.

That dialogue, it turns out, may have been supplemented by an AI speech tool.  Jancsó is a native Hungarian speaker; he knows how difficult the language is to replicate. That’s true even for Brody, whose mother is in fact a Hungarian refugee.

But controversy about the A24 Films production, which stars Academy Award winner Adrien Brody, arose over the weekend, when editor Dávid Jancsó told technology magazine Red Shark News that artificial intelligence was used to enhance the Hungarian accents of Brody and co-star Felicity Jones.
