Stephen King shared his thoughts on Threads about The Monkey, which was written and directed by Osgood Perkins and stars Theo James.

Social media reactions to early screenings of the bombastic new horror comedy arrived earlier this month, but Stephen King has now added his voice to the chorus of praise. The author has seen the movie, and in posting his critique to Threads, he has revealed that he is enamored with how off-the-walls it is. King wrote,

Written and directed by Longlegs helmer Osgood Perkins and adapted from King's short story of the same name, The Monkey follows twin brothers Hal and Bill (both played by Theo James), who witnessed a string of horrifying deaths as children after discovering their father's toy monkey in the attic.

The Monkey, based on the short story by the ‘Master of Horror’, is directed by Osgood Perkins, who gave us satanic crime chiller Longlegs in 2024. It stars James Bond hopeful Theo James in two roles, playing twins Bill and Hal who find their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, after which a series of gruesome deaths start.
