A mix of snow and rain is coming to Massachusetts Thursday and there's another storm in the forecast for the Boston area this weekend.

BOSTON - Snow is coming to Boston and most of Massachusetts today. This "kitchen sink" winter storm will drop a few inches of snow, a layer of icy sleet pellets and freezing rain. The WBZ weather team is continuing our NEXT Weather Alert for Thursday.

Storm Watch is in effect for all of western Massachusetts from 1 p.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday for accumulating snow and a wintry mix.

According to Meteorologist Shiri Spear’s latest weather blog post, the storm looks like it will move in between about 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Saturday night, with the heaviest snow falling from midnight through 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Snow is expected to stop in Worcester and the western part of the state before 9 a.m., gradually moving out of eastern Massachusetts by noon. Essex, Suffolk and Middlesex counties in the northeast part of the state may see snow showers through 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The forecast for snow and ice from a weekend storm in Massachusetts and the Boston area hasn't changed much in the past 24 hours. This is going to be an extremely messy storm. It is absolutely loaded with moisture by winter storm standards.
