A winter storm system moved through the Pittsburgh area on Monday, dumping several inches of snow throughout the region in the process. Heavy snow began to blanket parts of the area early on Monday and continued to accumulate throughout the afternoon and the evening.

Another round of light snow showers will occur on Wednesday as a disturbance moves in from the northwest. Our coldest mornings are likely to be Thursday and Friday as high pressure settles in. Winds should be light with the high pressure in place, so dangerous wind chills are not expected, but it will certainly not be comfortable to be outside.

Snowy weather will roll into Oklahoma on Thursday. Here is the timeline of when to expect snow, sleet and a return to seasonal temperatures.

Cold and gusty northwest winds will dominate through Thursday, with temperatures struggling to rise out of the 20s yet again Thursday. Expect wind gusts of up to 45 mph Thursday, wind chills near zero Thursday morning and 7-16 degrees Thursday afternoon.

A massive winter storm system has brought large amounts of heavy snowfall to western Pennsylvania and the Pittsburgh region. Parts of the area south of Pittsburgh received the heaviest amounts of snowfall.

The National Weather Service's Boston office said a winter storm is expected along the East Coast this weekend, but it is still possible that it could follow a more offshore track, which would not affect the Northeast.
