Sheriff Michael Bouchard said the suspect in a Christmas Eve shooting spree, who has been charged seven times in nine years with with weapons offenses, shouldn't have been released.

Bouchard said he plans to go to Lansing to speak to lawmakers to discuss when and how violent offenders are given parole and how that could impact public safety.
