A woman walking on Interstate 5 near Sacramento’s Natomas Crossing area died early Friday morning after she was struck by a vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol. The pedestrian was walking on northbound lanes of I-5, north of Interstate 80, ahead of a Chevrolet Malibu driving in the same lane, CHP officials said.

The Jeep collided head-on with a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500. Authorities said a female passenger and a female infant inside the Jeep were ejected. The female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The infant suffered major injuries and her condition is unknown at this time.
