Small but interesting visitor center in the former farmhouse. Nice walk along fields where migratory waterfowl fly in and out of, and congregate. There is a pond on one end but the forest boardwalk…Full review by Pana-X8

Breeding birds at the refuge are very secretive. The last few years our seasonal pond became rather unseasonable and there were ducks and horned grebes breeding there. Next door is a hotel with a nature walk to Wander Lake where there are usually nesting red-neck grebes, Mew gulls and Canada Geese. Also Tree Swallows are in the Creamers Field and Cliff Swallows and Violet Green swallows can be seen on te dairy barn and buildings. Several songbirds nest in the forest as well.
I am not sure about that because I visited in September. You might want to check their website creamersfield[dot]orgThey do seem to have winter programs.

Donation only. Nice place, but if you go in July bring a lot of mosquito repellent. It was very wet last year and some areas were closed off. Saw some birds but enjoyed watching red squirrels in the trees. Enjoy. They have people to take you around and explain everything.
